Cove Road Beach

On September 30 Wicomico County held a public meeting regarding planned park development at Cove Road Beach in Bivalve. Before the period for public comment ended we expressed unhappiness with the excessive number of parking spaces (59), excessive amount of disturbed area, and use of pavement instead of gravel or a porous material in about of half of the parking area.
As a 30 year resident of the area, I am unsure about the area around Cove Beach to be a viable recreation area for that many potential visitors. The beach area has been bothered by closings on many occasions during the past years. Most of these were due to unsafe levels of bacteria in the area. I believe the majority of these were due to the physical location of the beach. ( in a very shallow area on the east side of the river, between Roaring Point and Ragged Point). There is just lot enough flow of water in the area where the beach is located.
I believe adding extra visitors ( a potential of 300+) will not provide safe…
