Hebron WWTP discharge permit gets approved.

In May the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) issued a "notice of final determination" to issue a State discharge permit to allow the Town of Hebron to discharge an average of 101,000 gallons per day (gpd) of treated wastewater from the Hebron Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) into the Rewastico Creek. We attended the virtual public hearing and brought up concerns, which MDE considered and used to made changes to the draft permit. Public involvement matters!

The permit is requiring a total phosphorus limit, weekly dissolved oxygen monitoring, and leak monitoring, as well as flow capacity management plan  to stabilize flows during rain events.  They are also requiring a facility upgrade/ improvement, but this wasn't described any further.

We think this is a real win for us.
